Welcome!
Dear YPSO Family, Friends, and Community,
Welcome to our Spring concert, the third of this 2021-22 season. It feels like spring has sprung! The weather is beautiful, more things have re-opened, and we are all able to get out and socialize with each other, albeit with caution.
There are so many reasons to celebrate. First of all, it is YPSO’s 85th Anniversary season, and we have a specially commissioned piece, Rhapsody On A Windy Night, by Jeremy Cavaterra, which will take its world premiere on our stage tonight!
Secondly, we are featuring our 2022 Concerto Competition winners, Soumili Mukherjee on Bassoon, and Soren Pang on Piano! The competition was challenging, as we had many talented musicians in the running, and I am very proud of them all! It is also a great feeling to be able to showcase two instruments that deserve equal air-time to the popularly-remembered ones.
Thirdly, tonight, we kick off our YPSO Annual Fundraiser – Silent Auction, which, for a second year in a row, will be virtual and accessible to all friends and family across the nation. Each year, our families all pitch in and create wonderful gift baskets, home-made dinners, donate fun and adventurous experiences such as walking and hiking tours, campouts, etc for our supporters to bid on. Register HERE.
We invite you to register and bid on these amazing gifts, and in doing so, you will be supporting our students - especially our scholarship students - on an educational trip of a lifetime – a summer tour to perform in the great concert halls of Leipzig, Prague, and Vienna!
Thank you so much for being the best audience and the best supporters of our YPSO musicians who will grow up to be our future leaders!
